Lugemik presents: Book launch of “Smoke Screen” by Paul Paper (LT) and “Untitled” by Anu Vahtra (EE), accompanied by a conversation between the artists. Both books available for a special launch price of €25 (regular price €30).
Paul Paper (1985, LT) is a London-based curator and a self-publishing artist with an interest in the medium of photography. His recent work employs the shifting relationship between text and image to analyze the state of contemporaneity in photography. “Smoke Screen” is a subjective exploration of the condition of digital screenship, it is a curious look at screen-empowered mediation and abstract leveling of all information. “Smoke Screen” is published by Lodret Vandret, a collaborative platform for independent publishing and exhibition making based in Copenhagen, founded in 2010 by artists Flemming Ove Bech and Johan Rosenmunthe. It is their second collaboration, following “Contemporary Photography”, an artists’ book by Paul Paper, published in 2013.
Anu Vahtra (1982, EE) is a Tallinn-based artist interested in how a space, either physical or photographic, can be activated by a straightforward and simple gesture. “Untitled” documents ten of her projects focused on photography and large-scale spatial installation, dealing with space, awareness of space and its characteristics, the border between the second and the third dimension. The book is accompanied by three visual contributions by graphic designers Na Kim (KR), Mikk Heinsoo & Kaarel Nõmmik (Stuudio Stuudio, EE) and Jens Schildt & Matthias Kreutzer (Our Polite Society, DE/SE).
