The invisible borderland of interpretation in art, literature and other creative fields is a fascinating theme that can be discussed endlessly. Does a work that touches, changes existing thought patterns or charges with hopeful energy, open up the same meanings for the viewer or reader that triggered the author of the artwork? Is a synchronous merger of the author and the recipient of the work possible or necessary? Are viewers, readers, listeners more like curious travelers who can glance over the fence, but never know if they will manage to get inside?
This exhibition invites you to the paths of “Tender is the Night”, the area where the characters of F. Scott Fitzgerald’s book lived and loved, grew up or broke. The writer’s work is like an endless layered spiral that opens up with new observations at different stages of life. These can be charismatic characters and crazy parties, carefree days on the Mediterranean beach, sweltering in the sun. Togetherness and delicate mental health. Wandering in the darkness of the inner world, growing up and becoming independent. Money and work, pride and love. Fate.
The works in Schwede`s exhibition are the traveler`s findings of colorful characters. The camera has collected thoughtful quarter portraits of private, high-walled villas. What is happening behind these doors? Curious, gorgeous palm trees and Aleppo pines, which need wide views, do not accept the limited nature of the garden. The infinity of the sea and the rocky coast combine in a quiet readiness for the next challenge.
